FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at renee@reneeheil.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes!  You are welcome to come even without any sailing experience.  I will be Captaining the boat and arranging the trip, so you can sit back and relax.  If you want to participate in the sailing, you are welcome to join me, as long as you remember the above.

We will be spending 7 days on a 42-47 foot Catamaran. This is a two hulled sailboat, that remains relatively flat both when it is docked/moored and when it is moving.  That being said, you will using a small boat, digny, to get to shore, where we moore for the night.

Think glamping on the water.  We will have air-conditioning wifi, but you are not going to be streaming anything and we don't run airconditioning all day, only at night - to sleep.

Trips in May 2025 are designed to be appropriate for both snorkelers & divers on the same boat.  The BVI's have a wealth of sites that are suitable for both disaplines.  If you want to dive on this trip you will need to provide me a copy of your C card.  I will ensure you have the tanks and the gear you will need.  I bring my own and am a certified Dive Master.

Prices depend on the boat's size and the number of people sailing.  These catamarams have double/queen size beds and are priced based on double occupancy.  There is a tentative price list below.

We will leave from Tortolla, British Virgian Islands.  You can fly directly to Beef Island Airport, however it tends to be expensive.  I will fly from Fort Lauderdale/Miami to St. Thomas, then take a ferry to Tortola.  Approximent prices and a link to the ferry service is in the price list below.  You will then grab a taxi/shuttle to the marina.

We will leave from Tortolla, British Virgian Islands.  We will decide each day on where we will visit, based first on prevailing wind patterns and safety.  Typically, we will stop at The Baths, Norman Island & The Willie T,  Cooper Island, Bitter End Yatch Club & Saba Rock, Jost Van Dyke with the Soggy Dollar & Foxies.

Step one is to let me know that you are interested.  Step two is a non-refundable 50% deposit. (You can give your spot to someone else, if the boat trip gets cancelled you get refunded - per the charter companies refund policy. ). The price includes 100% hurricane/weather refund.

Not a lot. The islands are hot during the day and cool at night. Multiple swimsuits are a must.  Here is a suggested packing list.
